Zeena Luchowa writes for the Law Society Gazette on Labour's immigration policies

25 July 2024

LDI Partner Zeena Luchowa has written an article for the Law Society Gazette entitled ‘Scanning the policy horizon under Labour’.

This article discusses what we know so far regarding Labour’s proposed approach to immigration policy, focussing on changes to sponsored work routes, employer immigration compliance, family immigration policy asylum and small boats crossings, and digitalisation of UK immigration systems.

As the new government seeks to provide more detail on the immigration agenda, it is evident that reducing net migration, discouraging the reliance on overseas workers, and strengthening the asylum process and borders will be key priorities. Dealing with digitalisation challenges and the newly introduced Electronic Travel Authorisation system will also need due attention as unfinished projects from the former administration.

Zeena’s article can be read on the Law Society Gazette website here.
