Shannon Trust Charity Book Reading Event
On Monday 12 May 2014, Laura Devine Solicitors hosted a book reading event with Helen Giltrow, who read from her debut novel ‘The Distance’.
Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, we raised a total of £1,000 for the Shannon Trust.
The Shannon Trust aims to transform the lives of prisoners by inspiring prisoners who can read, to teach prisoners who cannot. By providing learners with opportunities to develop life skills, it better equips them to live as contributing members of society.

The YHA Charity Book Reading Event
The YHA of England and Wales Charity Book Reading Event
On Wednesday 23 April 2014, Laura Devine Solicitors hosted a book reading event with John Everard, former British ambassador to Belarus, Uruguay and North Korea. John gave a reading of his book ‘Only Beautiful Please: A British Diplomat in North Korea’.
Thanks to the generousity of those who attended, we raised a total of £1,000 for Youth Hostel Association (YHA) of England and Wales.
The YHA is a member of Hostelling International, an international federation of hostel associations. It works in various fields, eg youth activity, the environment, education, in partnership with other organisations within the voluntary sector, national government, and local government.

The Reading Agency Charity Book Reading Event
On Thursday 23 January 2014, Laura Devine Solicitors hosted a charity book reading event with novelist, playwright, journalist and critic Louise Doughty who read from her book ‘Apple Tree Yard’. The event was introduced by Sue Wilkinson MBE, Chief Executive of The Reading Agency.
Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, we raised a total of £1,000 for The Reading Agency which is a charity whose mission is to inspire people to read , encourage them to share their enjoyment of reading and celebrate the difference that reading makes to all our lives.
