Temporary immigration options for non-visa national creative professionals

Musicians, entertainers and artists from non-visa national countries (such as US, Canada and the EU) can come to the UK on a temporary basis.

We provide a short summary of the available immigration options and associated requirements below.

Up to 1 month No visa required in advance of travel to the UK*

  • will need to satisfy the Visitor (permitted paid engagement) route requirements
  • must come to the UK to carry out an activity directly relating to profession as a creative professional
  • must be invited by a creative organisation in the UK – before travel to the UK
  • when travelling the UK, carry evidence of profession and formal invitation

Up to 3 months No visa required in advance of travel to the UK*

  • will need to satisfy the requirements for the Creative Worker (concession) route
  • must be sponsored by an organisation approved by the Home Office
  • must satisfy a financial requirement
  • when travelling the UK, must see an Immigration Officer (not use an eGate) to present Certificate of Sponsorship and evidence of satisfying financial requirement
Yes
Up to 6 months No visa required in advance of travel to the UK*

  • will need to satisfy the Visitor route requirements
  • must limit activities to those permitted under the Visitor route such as giving performances, taking part in competitions or making personal appearances

 

No (other than expenses or prize money)

 

But can be paid for performances at a Permit Free Festival, as approved by the Home Office, and where Visitor is an artist, entertainer or musician

Up to 12 months (possible to extend up to 24 months) Visa required in advance of travel to the UK.

  • will need to satisfy the requirements for the Creative Worker route
  • must be sponsored by a sponsor approved by the Home Office
  • must satisfy a financial requirement

*Please note that it may be necessary to obtain Electronic Travel Authorisation before travelling to the UK.
