People Management has interviewed Partner and Head of Compliance Natasha Chell on the possible causes for the decreased number of employer prosecutions for hiring illegal immigrants, following changes to the Immigration Rules last year which lowered the legal threshold to ‘presumed’ knowledge. Natasha explains that this could be the result of an increasing immigration awareness among Human Resource teams who may already be well-versed with the Tier 2 sponsorship system and therefore more alert to the severity of potential civil penalties.
