Literary Lounge with Tracy Chevalier in support of First Story
On Wednesday 27 November 2024, Laura Devine Immigration was pleased to host a Literary Lounge with Tracy Chevalier where she discussed her book The Glassmaker.
This beguiling novel is richly evocative of 500 years of Venice’s unique history and focuses on a virtuoso female glassblower who flouts convention to hone her skills while struggling to be accepted in a patriarchal world. Tracy continues to develop her craft with this vivid, inventive, virtuoso portrait of a woman, a family and a city that are as eternal as their glass.
Tracy is the author of eleven novels, including A Single Thread, Remarkable Creatures and Girl with a Pearl Earring, an international bestseller that has sold over five million copies and been made into a film, a play and an opera.
A raffle on the evening benefitted First Story, a charity chosen by Tracy. First Story promotes literature, poetry and creative writing by linking published authors with schools throughout the UK.
