Literary Lounge with Meriel Schindler in support of Arvon
Monday 3 April 2023
On Thursday 11 May, Meriel Schindler will be discussing her book – The Lost Café Schindler.
This moving book weaves together memoir, family history and an untold story of the Jews of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It explores the restorative power of writing, and offers readers a profound reflection on memory, truth, trauma and the importance of cake.
Meriel is a writer and an employment lawyer, partner and head of a team at Withers law firm.
A raffle on the night will benefit the charity Arvon where Meriel is a trustee. Arvon is a charity that runs creative writing courses, events and retreats led by leading authors. At the heart of Arvon is the desire to encourage anyone, regardless of their background, to find their voice through writing. About a third of their activities are with groups from schools, youth and community groups and arts organisations, many from the most disadvantaged communities in the UK.
