New Immigration and Nationality Fees to be Introduced from Friday 18 March 2016

The Home Office has announced that the new immigration and nationality fees order will be coming into effect earlier than anticipated for all of the UK (except for Northern Ireland) from Friday 18 March 2016. For Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man, the new fees will take effect from Wednesday 6 April 2016.

Although the order will implement some significant increases across the board, fees for all Tier 2, 4 and 5 sponsorship licence applications and Certificates of Sponsorship (and Tier 4 Confirmations of Acceptance for Study) will be held at the current rates.

The Home Office cite that the objective of these changes is to relieve the burden on the UK tax payer and is a step towards achieving self-funding by 2019/2020, as the increases are set to raise an additional £100 million of income in 2016/2017.
